I don’t support government regulation of social media sites. That clearly goes against the spirit and likely the letter of our 1st Amendment. At the same time, it’s fairly obvious to me that many such large sites do have a fairly clear Left Wing Bias. They sometimes, perhaps even often, filter or block what many of us view as legitimate viewpoints, opinions and content from the right….and not even neccesarily the “Far Right” as if they are in any position of authority to objectively define what that even is, in the first place. In that sense, I do believe they do their user base a severe disservice. But as private platforms, it is ultimately their decision to make.
The appropriate remedy to this for those of us on the Right who feel such media sites are unfairly discriminating against our viewpoints is NOT to advocate for government regulation but, instead to vote with our feet and our wallets to find alternate sites that don’t so discriminate. Ultimately if these media “giants” don’t care about losing audience, they will mend their ways…or others will step up to offer the sort of services they refuse.
