Five Tech Jobs to consider and what degree you might need.

Interested in a career in tech, but don’t know where to start? Here are some ideas:

  1. Software Engineer: Software engineers develop software applications using computer languages and tools. They work closely with product managers, designers, and programmers to create programs that solve problems and improve efficiency. A bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field is often required along with several years of experience developing software.
  2. Computer Programmer: Computer programmers write instructions for computers to perform a specific task. They use programming languages like C++, Python, Java, and others to create software applications. You’ll need at least a bachelors degree, but training from a bootcamp on how to code will get you pretty far too.
  3. Database Administrator: Database administrators maintain databases containing information about products, customers, employees, inventory, etc. They ensure that the data is accurate and reliable and they respond to queries from users. A Bachelors degree in computers science, business administration or a related tech field is highly desirable.
  4. Network Systems Analyst: Network systems analysts design networks and network security policies. They analyze how networks operate and identify potential weaknesses. They might recommend changes to existing network infrastructure or suggest alternative solutions. A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or telecommunications are usually required.
  5. Web Developer: Web developers build websites that provide information to people online. They might specialize in designing and maintaining web pages or creating custom software applications. Web developers need at least a bachelors degree or higher in computer science, software development, or a related technical discipline.
