nice post, mr. g. i bet some of this was cathartic. just a word of caution about living in a state of hyper-anything. even hyper-states of glee and joy are not suitable for most humans. they create levels of stress most are typically not designed to deal with for prolonged periods of time. you’ve obviously dealt with your hearing situation quite well. but i suspect being hyper-vigilant has now become, it seems, an holistic state of being, the offshoots of which could be levels of stress that go unnoticed until they bite your proverbial ass in some unforeseen and unwanted ways. it happened to me. don’t want it to happen to you. pick and choose the moments to be hyper. i think it will serve you better in both states, when you’re on and when you’re not.
