Two Men Charged in Minneapolis Bar Shooting Incident

Minneapolis, MN — Two individuals are now facing charges in connection with a recent shooting incident that took place outside a bar in Minneapolis earlier this month. Omari Kuakou Thomas, aged 45 and a resident of Minneapolis, has been charged with one count of illegal possession of a firearm and one count of second-degree assault. Anthony Smith, aged 50 and a resident of Brooklyn Center, is facing one count of aiding an offender.

According to official reports and criminal complaints, the incident unfolded on January 7th when officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a distress call at Cliff N Norm’s Bar, located on Washington Avenue North. The call pertained to a shooting incident in which a man had sustained gunshot wounds to his stomach.

The victim, who was waiting in line to enter the bar at the time, reported that the shooter, who remains unidentified, had inappropriately grabbed a woman who was accompanying the victim in line. In response, the victim pushed the suspect out of the bar. Tragically, the suspect retaliated by discharging his firearm, injuring the victim in the stomach.

Key evidence in the investigation came from security footage captured outside the bar. The footage revealed that the suspected shooter had arrived at the scene in the company of Omari Kuakou Thomas and Anthony Smith, who were seen in a maroon van.
