Why I didn’t look at your resume

As someone who spent a few months jumping through all the hoops trying to get my resume through the ominous filters of potential employers, all of whom are eyeing applicants through different lenses, I think your advice is fairly simplistic. You’re assuming all employers are looking for the same characteristics that you’re seeking, that someone who writes about how clean her inbox is or how they’d make Subway runs would float to the top of any hiring manager’s pile. I’m glad you found what you were looking for; but please don’t assume this a one-size-fits-all process. I landed a great job at a fairly conservative company that, frankly, wouldn’t have given these candidates the time of day.
