Happiness is overrated. Live instead for meaning.

This idea of self kindness is popular, but meaningless. It too often devolves into self indulgence, as Melody Wilding warns in When Self-care Turns to Self-sabotage.

You’re better off reframing your attitude towards yourself as self-leadership.

The only part of yourself you need be kind to is the vulnerable child that still associates memories with pain. Talk nice to that kid.

But keep challenging your grown up self.
