Using Seamless with the New In-App Bridge — A Step by Step guide.
Seamless Protocol has just integrated a leading bridge & decentralized exchange aggregator, LI.FI, or an even smoother user experience—this aggregates bridges like Stargate and Across Protocol with swaps like 1inch and Uniswap for a 1-Stop-Shop for all your bridging and swapping needs!
If you’re looking to A) bridge your crypto from another chain to Base, and/or B) swap your crypto into a token compatible with Seamless, your experience has never been more *seamless*!
As a reminder, Seamless Protocol is built on BASE: base.org
1. Go to Seamless Protocol & click “Swap on to Base” to open a pop-out drawer for the LI.FI integration.

2. Click “Connect Wallet” and choose your wallet that you’d like to move funds from.
3. In the “From” box, you’ll need to A) select the logo of the origin Chain, then B) choose the crypto asset that you will be sending to Base.
*NOTE: If this is your first time swapping crypto onto Base, you’ll need to first send some ETH to Base so that you can pay for gas fees on Base for subsequent transactions.
4. In the “To” box, select which crypto asset you are swapping into. By default, ETH on Base is already selected.
*NOTE: Presently, Seamless Protocol is only compatible with ETH, cbETH, and USDbC (labeled USD Base Coin in the widget, not to be confused with USD Coin). Native USD Coin cannot be supplied at the moment.
5. Input the quantity that you’d like to bridge/swap into the “You pay” box, choose your preferred route, and press Review bridge.
You’ll need to click through a few approvals in your wallet (such as MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet), then you’re done!
6. Now your crypto is on Base! Under “Assets to supply” on the Dashboard tab, and click “Supply” to get started.
If you’re not already on the Base network, you’ll see a message prompting you to switch before you supply.
That’s all! Swapping, bridging, and supplying has never been more seamless!
Some FAQs:
Why do I need to bridge/swap ETH to Base first?
Base uses ETH to pay for gas before making a transaction. If your wallet does not have any ETH on Base, it cannot fulfill a transaction. If you firstly send over different crypto on Base, your crypto would still exist, but you just wouldn’t be able to move it until you first bring over some ETH.
Can I use native USDC on Base with Seamless?
No, currently Seamless is only compatible with USD Base Coin (USDbC) because there is much more USD Base Coin circulating on Base than native USDC. In the future, Seamless may add native USDC as a new market.
USD Base Coin is very similar to native USDC in that it represents a native USDC token that was bridged onto Base from another origin chain.
