7 Amazing (and Crazy) Ways the Ketogenic Lifestyle Has Improved Numerous Lives
A Diet That Unlocks Your Body’s Natural Healing Powers?

So before I get into the good stuff, let me first cover my bum and say that this is for educational purposes only.
I don’t pretend to be a doctor, even though I’ve done enough research on this topic that I wish they’d just allow me to be one.
And I started that research so I could learn about the weight loss benefits of this diet, but as I quickly learned…it goes well beyond that.
Starting with:
1. Weight Loss
So as I mentioned a second ago, I first found this diet when I was trying to lose weight…
And I hate to say lose weight, because I was more focused on fat loss — but either way, you get the hint.
Anyway, I heard about it after looking into the difference between fat burning and glycogen burning mode.
I’ve covered that in more detail here, but in short — since the ketogenic diet focuses on eating fat, it teaches our body to use fat for fuel…as opposed to “glucose” while on a carb heavy diet.
And as I’m sure you can guess, once your body makes the full transition into fat burning mode — then well, it gets pretty easy to burn fat after that…
But that’s not the only reason this diet helps with weight loss.
In addition to making your body a fat burning machine, it also helps regulate the hormone that tells us we’re hungry — ghrelin….also known as “the hunger hormone”.
This is helpful in many ways, but it’s extremely helpful when we have a lot of fat to lose.
What do I mean by that?
Well, have you ever heard of stories where people lose a lot of weight and a short time later — gain it all back?
If not, just Google “biggest loser weight gain”…
I could talk about that for days but the point is that it’s not willpower or anything like that, it’s because the outdated technique of “starve yourself and workout too much” might burn fat, but it doesn’t reduce your ghrelin levels along with it.
In other words, you keep your appetite and turn into a ticking time bomb…
One that’s going to “yo-yo” diet and when you do, you end-up gaining all your weight back….
And since your metabolism has adjusted to slow down (because you have less weight) — then well, that usually means you gain your weight back — and then some.

2. Acne
So after I started on this diet and finally become keto-adapted (i.e. fat burning mode) I started to notice an instant improvement in my weight.
Fat seemed to finally be going away and on top of that, I was exercising less.
That was a powerful 1–2 punch by itself, but then one day when I was in the bathroom I glanced at the mirror (okay, I was checking myself out) and realized that my “bacne” was starting to clear up.
Now this was crazy to me as I’ve struggled with acne for many years…
And by struggle, I mean I’ve been to 5 different dermatologists and tried multiple types of creams/prescriptions — only to see zero results.
After awhile I just gave up as I was getting the same results either way, but deep down — I always wanted to figure this out.
It was really a huge nuisance and even though it might sound crazy, it made a big impact on my life…like never wanting to go swimming because I was scared to take my shirt off.
But no matter what I did, the bacne never went away…
So that’s probably why this one surprised me so much, and to be honest — I couldn’t believe it at first.
I mean yeah, I obviously believed it reduced my acne as I could see the results…but I couldn’t believe this simple diet change was the reason for it.
So I finally talked myself into believing that it was a short-term fix, and within no-time I figured my bacne would just reappear.
Then 2 months later, it was still gone…
3 months later? Still hadn’t showed back up…
4 months later? The same…
Then finally after 8 months, I threw in the towel and came to my conclusion — the ketogenic diet is the best dermatologist out there.
So why would this simple diet work better than any dermatologist?
Well, the easy answer is that it decreases your insulin resistance and that creates a healthier body — which in turn creates healthier skin.
If I wanted to take this one step further I’d show you how insulin affects acne-relevant hormones like androgen secretion, androgen bioavailability, IGF-1 bioavailability, etc….
But the Acne Einstein has already taken care of all this research, so if you’d like to learn more — you can find it here.
3. ADHD
Okay, so the first two usually make (some) sense to people…and this is where I start to get the crazy looks.
Which is fine, I get it. I probably would have thought the same a few years ago…
But as somebody who’s personally defeated ADHD with this diet, then well — trust me, it works.
And by personally defeated ADHD, I mean I’ve always been the typical “obnoxious, can’t focus, needs adderall” type.
So that’s what I took (adderall) for many years to maintain my focus and productivity, but then after I became keto-adapted…I noticed a huge improvement in my mental clarity.
This is something that’s witnessed by pretty much everybody who tries this diet, but I decided to take it one step further…
Seeing if I could stop taking adderall AND remain productive.
So I did that for the next week and let’s just say, I flushed the rest of my pills shortly after and haven’t went back since.
At first I thought I was just misdiagnosed, or had a slight form of ADHD — but then I got to reading about it and realized a bunch of other people have had similar results!
So how does a diet defeat ADHD then?
It’s hard to give an exact answer as the definition/understanding of ADHD is still up in there air….
But if I had to guess, I’d say it’s because ketones (the energy that’s produced from burning fat) gives your brain a sustainable amount of energy, a much better alternative than the roller coaster ride that’s created by carbs…
Meaning you not only have increased mental clarity, but you have this all day long…
Doing the same thing as all medications…just in a natural way.

4. Diabetes
Alright, next up on the “crazy train” — diabetes.
And before I get started here, I want to mention that this is the first one that I haven’t benefited from personally.
As I mentioned in the first 3, I’ve seen dramatic impacts in my own life and can personally testify for those…
But I’ve (thankfully) never had diabetes and haven’t had to beat that.
So what gives me the right to even state this then?
Because I’ve done extensive research, found numerous results, AND the reasoning makes sense.
What do I mean?
Well there’s obviously a few things that go into diabetes, but at its core — it just means:

Okay, easy enough…so let’s take that one step further and remove carbs from the diet (which for the most part, a ketogenic diet does)…and what happens then?
Well, we don’t have any carbs…so it’s hard to have an abnormal metabolism…
And we’re running off ketones instead of glucose, sooo we really don’t have to worry about elevated levels…
Hmm, that seems to remove most of the problems.
Enough said?

5. Cancer
Alright, I realize this one seems to be the craziest — so I’m just going to jump right into it…
Cancerous cells need glucose, it’s the only way they can survive.
How do I know that?
Again, a lot of research…but if you need proof, ask any cancer doctor how they find cancerous cells…
They inject “tagged” glucose into you, generally after a short period of fasting.
This glucose then runs straight for the cancerous cells and makes them glow, giving the doc an easy way to pinpoint the problem.
So what does the ketogenic diet have to do with this?
Well, it’s kind of the same principle as diabetes…
If we remove glucose from the equation, then that really takes care of most of the problem.
In this case, it starves the cancer cells and that forces them to die…a natural way of beating cancer.

6. Alzheimers
Maybe you’ve heard of this, maybe you haven’t….but Alzheimer’s is starting to become known as “type 3 diabetes”.
Why type 3 diabetes?
Because just like type 1 and type 2, the main problem is insulin and regulating glucose…
So even though Alzheimer’s might not have a direct relationship with insulin, guess what?
As we get older, we have a tougher time using glucose as fuel…
And that means it’s harder for your brain to get the fuel it needs, which means you’re more likely to have some cognitive problems — like Alzheimer’s or dementia.
So what does the ketogenic diet have to do with this?
Just like type 1 and type 2, the ketogenic diet removes glucose from the equation and instead feeds your brain ketones…a natural source of fuel that our brains love.

7. Epilepsy
Okay, so before I get started — I fully admit that out of these 7 benefits… this is the one that I know the least about.
Not because I don’t care about it or anything like that, but because I don’t have any close family (or friends) that have been affected by it…and that’s led me to more research in other areas.
BUT, with all that said — I’d be an absolute idiot if I didn’t have some idea of this, as it’s shown in nearly every study I’ve read.
In fact, did you know that before big pharma came into the picture — this actually used to the primary treatment?
Okay, so I know what you’re thinking…
Just because it used to be the primary treatment doesn’t mean it’s the best treatment.
And I’d agree on that, but until somebody can find studies that show prescription drugs producing results like having over half of children noticing a 50% reduction in seizures…
Or even better, how some (usually about 10–15% of study), become seizure (and medication) free…then well, I’m going to say the ketogenic diet continues to outperform.
So why exactly does this diet work then?
Well, again — I’ll be the first to admit that this is an area of ketosis that needs further explanation…
Because so far, the primary reason is that it simply works.
But with that said, there’s obviously some assumptions and those assumptions boil down to the protective measures that ketones provide our brain….
And I don’t think the sustained energy hurts either.

Wrapping It Up
So I could go on for days about the benefits of this diet, but these are the top 7 that I thoroughly understand and am confident with…
Which always leads me to the next question, “okay, so why aren’t more people using it then?”
And that’s a great question that I’d like to have answered myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I certainly have my assumptions…
And most of them are covered by JP Sears in his recent video about coconut oil.
Now this might not address the ketogenic diet directly, but coconut oil is a huge staple of this diet and it’s frowned upon for the same reasons that the ketogenic diet is…
So in short, if you want to know why more people aren’t using this diet — then I highly advise watching this video.
