India’s largest integrated communications service provider, Bharti Airtel (Airtel), and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) have expanded their long-standing partnership with a renewed multi-year contract to supply and deploy Ericsson’s 5G-ready radio and transport solutions. The continued implementation of products and technologies for the Ericsson Radio System would increase Airtel’s network capability and provide its customers with a superior experience. Airtel will also raise the number by using MINI-LINK 6000 goods. Also, Airtel would improve the backhaul capabilities of the network.
In order to provide greater bandwidth and lower latency than the 4G (LTE) and 3G networks, 5G will use modern radio technologies and distinct network architecture. 5G offers up to 10 Gbps peak data rates, up to 100 times higher than 4G’s 100 Mbps. In 5G networks, latency, a measure of the time it takes for data to move from the handset to the remote server, could be less than a millisecond, or 60–120 times better than 4G. Real-world performance is likely to be considerably lower as computing resources would be needed close to the mobile device to make the most of this high bandwidth and low latency, so 5G may also be a contributing factor to the growth of the edge computing industry.
The advent of 5G will change the way businesses operate their networks and automation will be needed to address these new challenges as a crucial component of any network management strategy. Network and data center control in real-time would become crucial. Automated traffic management that factors in conditions beyond geography, such as real-time data center efficiency and traffic volume/speed, will be needed by the sheer number of computations and interactions.
India remains the area with the highest smartphone use per month, as per the June 2020 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report. It is estimated that overall traffic will triple in 2025. The average monthly use of mobile data per smartphone in the India region continues to show robust growth, boosted by the rapid adoption of 4G. The dominant technology remains LTE, accounting for 49% of mobile subscriptions in 2019. LTE, representing 64 percent of mobile subscriptions in 2025, will continue to be dominant. In the India area, LTE subscriptions are projected to rise from 550 million in 2019 to 820 million in 2025, growing at a 7 percent compound annual growth rate ( CAGR).
