Today we’re thrilled to announce that Cargo — the all-in-one NFT marketplace, showcase, and minting platform — will be integrating Chainlink, the market leader in providing decentralized oracle networks to smart contract applications, to offer Chainlink VRF (verifiable randomness function) as a whitelisted solution for enterprise gaming companies seeking to integrate blockchain features and RNG. This will allow companies to quickly and efficiently mint NFTs with randomly selected attributes, as well as distribute those NFTs as random rewards.

Currently live on testnet, Cargo’s minting platform allows for the extreme scalability of NFT generation and tracking — one of the greatest obstructions towards the digital ownership renaissance. Cargo’s goal is to improve the user experience for all members of the NFT ecosystem, including developers, artists, collectors, and enterprises by giving them the tools they need to push the space forward. In addition to the minting platform, Cargo also offers users a “showcase” feature where they can display their collectibles, as well as a marketplace open to all Ethereum NFTs.

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that allows smart contracts to connect with data and systems existing outside the blockchain in a highly secure and reliable manner. It has been at the forefront of smart contract innovation for years and was recently recognized by The World Economic Forum (WEF) as one of the top 100 “early to growth-stage”’ Technology Pioneers for 2020.

The addition of Chainlink VRF will bolster Cargo’s suite of NFT services by allowing enterprises to include randomness in the NFT minting and distribution processes. This technology is an ideal fit for Cargo as we push to create a solution for third-party games and projects that need infrastructure support as they add blockchain features. We look forward to working with Chainlink to advance NFTs in video games by making secure and provably fair randomness widely available!

Chainlink VRF Integration Details

Cargo’s NFT minting platform, Cargo JS, will be integrating Chainlink VRF as a whitelabel solution for enterprise game studios and projects seeking to add random elements to their NFT creation and distribution. Currently, the Cargo JS platform utilizes EIP-2309 to allow developers to create a nearly infinite (2²⁵⁵) amount of NFTs in a single transaction while simultaneously preserving the ability for developers to alter and individualize the metadata associated with the generated NFTs. This greatly increases the scalability and applicability of NFTs to video game use cases.

With Chainlink VRF, developers will be able to use secure and provably fair on-chain randomness to determine the attributes of the NFTs, including rarity, in-game stats, and appearance. Use cases include the random distribution of NFT-backed in-game assets such as loot boxes and item drops, as well as randomized reward features in the form of lotteries and giveaways.

We’re excited to make Chainlink VRF part of the Cargo JS stack, and believe that this integration will help attract enterprise grade developers and projects to the space with secure and scalable whitelabel solutions!

About Chainlink

If you are a smart contract developer and want to take advantage of the Chainlink VRF feature, visit their developer documentation, and join the technical discussion on Discord. Learn more by visiting the Chainlink website or following them on Twitter or Reddit.

Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that enables smart contracts to securely access off-chain data feeds, web APIs, and traditional bank payments. It is well known for providing highly secure and reliable oracles to large enterprises (Google, Oracle, and SWIFT) and leading smart contract development teams such as Polkadot/Substrate, Synthetix, Loopring, Aave, OpenLaw, Conflux, and many others.
