At one point I had a gym membership and only went if I had a buddy to go with, then as is typical things change buddies move to other states for jobs, and you still have a gym membership that you now hate.
Then I was watching the 2012 Olympics, and the ladies were riding their road bikes into London through an awesome dense block of forest, and I had to wonder why I didn’t have a road bike. I loved it when I had it as a kid. I loved going fast, I loved going unexpected distances with such ease. got myself an entry level Specialized drop bar road bike, and proceeded to ride it every day for a week. Then I realized the commute to work at the time would only be 14 miles by bike. I made the effort first on a Saturday to make sure I could go round trip. And once I did that and got my bum used to the idea of being on the bike, I was off and suddenly work was so not important when you’re on your way home, and on your bike, like you’re a kid again without a care in the world. Win.
