Designing InstaReview with Sketch

Over the past few days, I’ve been talking about my PRD for Walmart’s InstaReview feature. It’s designed to be an easy way for Walmart customers to review the items they purchased. This will increase user engagement and bring more business to Walmart.com. Here are some designs that I created using Sketch. Enjoy!

This is what an ‘original’ reviews email would look like. In reality, this is an email from Amazon with the Walmart logo on it. From the design, it looks like you can select the ratings within the email. Unfortunately, it’s all a ruse. These are just images that link you to the reviews page on Amazon. I’ve wanted to review many items in the past and was ok clicking the stars within my email. However, once I saw that it took me to the actual website, I closed the tab and decided to do it later. Later turned into never and Amazon lost an opportunity to get one more review.

And this is my proposed new method. As you can see, you can actually select your rating within the email and then submit it to Walmart. This saves the user time and reduces the friction for reviewing items. I removed the 5 star rating system and converted it to a like/dislike function instead. If you want to write actual comments, you can go to the reviews page within Walmart and write them there. I don’t believe the comments are that necessary. Even the top items have only 5 reviews that people look at. The rest is just lost in the sea of ‘This product is great!’ reviews.

With this new system, Walmart will be able to get more customers to purchase items on it’s site. This system will increase user engagement and will eventually drive up gross sales. It’s cool to come up with concepts and ways to improve a product and finally design them to bring them to life.

Looking forward to the future, the possibilities are endless.
