All options on the table for Scotland and Labour
Given the events of the last few days it would be absurd for people not to be thinking hard about what is best for Scotland following Brexit. I’m still 100% convinced that being in a strong United Kingdom in a strong and democratic European Union is best for Scotland.
I’m not so sure that Brexiteers are really going to pull the trigger on Article 50 and pull us out. To my mind, a long drawn out renegotiation of our membership is their more likely ambition, perhaps with a second referendum.
But failing that it is quite right that we would consider all the options. Are we best off out of the UK and in the EU or in the UK and out of the EU? That’s a heartbreaking question for many of us to have to consider but should we be faced with it, it’s one we must answer in the interest of Scotland.
I am certainly more open-minded today than I was on Wednesday on the question of independence but I remain to be convinced. Gloating and gleeful cybernats won’t convince me. A good solid economic case is what’s needed.
Simply put, we are wise to keep the heid and think carefully about what’s best for the country. For once I agree with Nicola Sturgeon – every option should be on the table.
