Damn, Lewis, open that steel trap of a mind of yours. It’s pretty sad when a Canadian apparently knows more about your country’s history than you do. Yes, you had settlers from other countries, but the only ones the Founding Fathers cared about were the British ones. That’s not news.
The eminent danger was the removal of his free expression of religion as enshrined by the 1st amendment, you can’t really be this slow
For someone who makes the leap of saying my post is filled with “hate”, you’re dong a great job of outpacing me on it. But that aside, that is not what the court meant when it talked about “eminent danger”. It meant things like too many people, thus creating a fire hazard. You know, real, conscious threats that would be out of the shopowner’s control. A couple of gay guys showing up to buy a cake pose no eminent threat, not unless one brought a shotgun and forced the baker to get to it.
You claimed it was about buildings and such when it is about individual rights and freedoms of expression
It’s not a lie, sorry. It’s not just about buildings (as I wrote) but preventing the government from squashing down on any religion it doesnt like by any means necessary. I guess you dont want to think about places like Oklahoma, where the state legislature there tried to pass a bill that said “freedom of religion” applied solely to Christians because it was under such “attack”. And yeah, bud, squashing down on someone’s faith for whatever arbitrary reason the government can think of can extend to the destruction of property. I suggest you look at Texas for an example or two of that.
Bottom line: your position on this is shaky at best and ridiculous at worst. You would return your country to some kind of theocracy, where religious belief trumps (excuse the pun) all. Perhaps that’s what you want, and you simply dont have the balls to full out say it, but your posts on the matter sure indicate that you think religion should be put ahead of everything. Well, there are countries that think that way. Should you fail in your attempt to make the US into one of them, I bet you’d find happiness with one of the others.
Oh. Wait. They’re those pesky Muslims, and we all know what conservatives think about them, right?
Try to have a nice day, okay? To quote the line from that heathen musical Camelot, “When you’re arranging things with God tonight, m’sieur, do ask Him for nice weather.”
