Wow. As a graphic designer of some decades’ experience, I’m reading this article and wondering… well, a lot of things. Blackletter (aka “Old English”, BTW) is hardly taboo. Yes, it shows up in the places you mention, but it’s also fairly common in most legal documents and wedding invitations… which I guess we should now view with suspicion because, you know, Hitler.

As for Clinton’s logo — ahem, that’s a logo. If you dont understand the difference between a logo and typography, there’s several excellent books I can recommend on the subject.

I’m sorry, but this is trying to create some sense of conspiracy paranoia that doesnt really hold water all that well. Yes, folks are finally figuring out that typography can indeed sell an overall design, but to call it a “visual war” is — if I may say so — a bit silly. Based on this, I gather your next article — on the use of off-white paint in most modern apartments — is a statement of racial bigotry.
