Thank you, Alan, for enlightening us. I wonder how many of our “private militia” have gathered such weapons under those circumstances.
I have career police officers in my family who have risked their lives in our community and abhor what has happened to “protect and defend” as a hallmark of their dedication to public service. It is a slap in the face to those who never wanted to militarize their presence among the people they protect.
Where are the the wise, responsible leaders who can evaluate when extreme measures are required? I know that “rapid entry” errors are frequent. Does appearing at a peaceful demonstration in riot gear with armored vehicles increase the likelihood of confrontation, injury and death?
This has been coming on for a long time. We saw what happened at Kent State. We witnessed the debacle outside the Democratic convention in ’68. I think we are teetering on the precipice and we had better grab hold of the Bill of Rights before we fall to our destruction.
