Buddhist Taung Kalat, one of the most spiritual destinations of Myanmar. This place of worship 37 legendary gods with the story about the spirit path Zhuang bi.

Myanmar is a country in Southeast Asia, bordering Bangladesh, China, India, Laos and Thailand. For most of its modern history, Myanmar isolated from the rest of the world when the military Government of holding absolute power to rule the country, leaving the country facing international condemnation for human rights abuses.

However, despite the problems occur, Myanmar still possesses a vibrant past and a rich heritage. One example is inspiring Buddhist Taung Kalat.

Mount Popa, a high volcano, 1,518 metres above sea level, and is located in Central Myanmar about 50 km (31 miles) southeast of Bagan in the Pegu. Mount Popa is perhaps best known around which many beautiful Buddhist monasteries. Popa, in Sanskrit (Sanskrit) means “flower”, this is considered the mountain sacred in Myanmar, residence of the gods Nat.

Taung Kalat is located in southwest of Mount Popa, a volcano on the Pegu range in Central Myanmar. Taung Kalat is a button stone (stone sealed eruption crater) even though the volcano has now shut down. Sometimes the Taung Kalat is also called mount Popa. To avoid confusion, the volcanoes are the local people called Taung Ma-gyi, meaning ‘ the Hill ‘ mother.

Taung Kalat built right on top of the mountain so visitors would brave the climb up to the monastery ranks 777 Taung Kalat will be panoramic. In addition to being a tourist, the monastery is also the place of pilgrimage. It is believed that the Taung Ma-gyi tops not far from the home of the gods Nat.

According to the faith of Buddhist Myanmar, Nat is a group of gods play a role for humans and is the soul of the mountain forest. The Nat worship even before the arrival of Buddhism into Myanmar, though this belief has been incorporated into Buddhist teachings when it appears from the 3rd century BC.

37 gods Nat important role during the existence of the country. Most of the Nat as a born human destiny has a brutal death. The life story of the Nat is probably the legendary. Although all 37 gods Nat Taung Ma-gyi on worshipping, but only 4 left the gods exist in this place. That’s Tough, Tint Saw Maung Me Yar, Byatta and Mai Wunna. Each deity had a separate story narrates the way they become God of Nat.

According to legend, Maung Tint Dai is a blacksmith living in the Kingdom of Tagaung legends sale in the 6th century BC. He was so strong, that even the King was also afraid. So the King decided to eliminate Maung Tint by trickery.

The King informed the style one of the Sisters of Maung Tint Dai Queen and invites the blacksmith on the fun Palace. Arrival, Maung Tint Dai was arrested, tied to the tree health-pa yellow and burned alive. The sister also jumped into the fire. The two brothers Maung Tint Dai die and become the God of Nat resided in the trunk.

By people walking under a tree was cursed so the King ordered the pruned trees and throwing down the Irrawaddy River. According to the water line, the tree is said to have drifted to the Bagan during the reign of King Thlgyang. Finally, the King to the people who picked the tree, carving the image Dai Tint sister Maung and stored on the Summit of Taung Ma-gyi.

The legend of Byatta and Mai Wunna tell about the time after that. In the 11th century, under the reign of King Anawrahta, Byatta was a person from India, he was running very fast and worked picking flowers for King Anawrahta. He can run 10 times daily from Bagan to Taung Ma-gyi returning to provide fresh flowers for the King.

In a trip to Taung Ma-gyi, Byatta has crush on Mai Wunna, a flower-eating live on the mountain and had 2 sons. When King Anawrahta knows, he has executed Byatta. When news of the death of Mai Wunna to Byatta, she died too hurt. The two eventually became the God of Nat and Taung Ma-gyi reside along with brother Maung Tint Dai.

The legend of Mount Popa is still very long and is part of the culture of Myanmar. The popularity of the customary worship on Mount Popa is an illustration of the fact that the ancient traditions still plays an important role in daily life and become a feature for culture Myanmar even beyond national borders.
