The Yassification of TikTok— a queer review of 2021

This wasn’t the best year for the community. The Panda Express (how TikTokers snarkily refer to the pandemic in the comment section) still hit hard and some reactionary governements made life extremly difficult for queer folx when conservatives passed more repressive laws. While we can have a proper discussion on the shortcomings of protecting vulnerable groups on TikTok from harassment, there’s also room to acknowledge the user support within the comment sections on the app. This is a review which will show you an affirmative side of TikTok with an often ironic take on issues that plague us. Rejoice in the power of strutting crows, brave allies, rebuttals to rainbow capitalism, or creative ways on handling censorship. It’s over for you [REDACTED] once we’re done with our yassifications.
