Adult brain can create new neurons

Neurogenesis is possible even in the human adult.
There are 700 new neurons born daily in the Hypo-campus area.

Pro activities to stimulate neurogenesis:
1. running (but also aerobic activity that increase blood flow)
2. omega 3 fatty food
3. red wine (due to reservatrol — it increases survival of new neurons)
4. sex
5. calorie restriction
6. intermittent fasting (increasing gap between eating times)
7. dark chocolate & blueberries

Inhibitive activities for neurogenesis:
1. alcohol (ethanol)
2. soft diet (food that does not require mastication)
3. sleep deprivation

Note:
1. Studies have been done on both rats and human adults
2. Neurogenesis is closely related to depression.
