Earlier this week, I decided that it would be in my best interest to fine-tune my resume a bit. With the way the economy is no doubt going, I think it’s fair to say that a bunch of people are now living within the unspoken regularities of wanting to continue their lives as best as possible despite people dying at their feet all around them, while also attempting to progress themselves in the only ways they know how. A couple of days ago, my girlfriend and I were sitting in my room, when something managed to catch her eye. On the wall, just off to the side, was a framed, self-published book of mine from 2017.
Now, I’m not usually one to get worked up over something seemingly so innocuous, but I could immediately tell that this time was a justified reaction. The book read, Take Your Ex Out For a Steak Dinner, and embossed just below in bright white letters sat painted, “A Memoir.”

I’ve been realizing that amidst these rather unprecedented times, most if not all people have discovered some form or another to not only keep busy, but to manage to scrape together a decent living because of it. I’m not sure if whether or not a global pandemic happens to bring out the absolute desperate and/or absolute creative in people fearing for their own safety and security, but amongst my small social circle, it’s been pretty well packed with individuals who more or less span their twenty-four hour days with nothing but their vivid imaginations and their computers to showcase them.
