The potential I agree is huge for businesses. The risk for bots right now seems to be in parallel with previous self service technologies: inattention to user-centred design and driving measurable business improvement.

We’ve seen this play out before with telephony-based automation solutions like IVR – lots of people making under-performing solutions and creating customer apathy for using them.

I hope we can find a different path for intelligent assistant technologies.
