So it start — the journey of an enterprenuer

Have you ever woken up with a thought of “I don’t give a flying f***”?

Well some months ago, that is exactly what happened to me which led me to decide that I was (hopefully) never to return to the routine I got used to.

The routine of working like a donkey to earn money. The routine which i adored for good part of my 20s. The routine which many I know will kill for!

For most of us such a routine is great though; earning good money in an economic environment where people lose their jobs by the hour. What is wrong with working hard for someone and getting a decent salary for it? Well nothing really and for a long time that was the only thing I wanted to do.

I remember enjoying loads — the apartment in Marylebone, the BMW M6, the dinners at posh west end restaurants, the clubs in the upmarket part of London and the easy and hassle free random travels travels. You must be thinking its not that bad after all but… hang on a minute…

Have you ever heard of the concept of passion or perhaps the lack of it? Well sometimes when everything is going well the only thing lacking is passion. For some people working for a large organisation where you don’t feel passionate about the brand, the company or the people around you, is just not cricket!

Let me explain by using the economic analogy of law of diminishing marginal utility and how that can sometimes kill passion. (see I love economics!) In a big company it’s highly likely that you will be doing the same thing over and over again (probably because you are good at it). You will be cheered upon and your bosses will love you. The first bonus you get will bring a certain glitter in your eyes. You will have a good paycheck at the end of month and you can even help your family, if needed! Its all hunky dory until it seems a starts becoming a little boring and repetitive. The thought of doing this all your life starts to haunt you. The lack of creativity starts to kill you, or the additional satisfaction from every dollar, pounds or euro (not sure you want to earn many of those at the moment!) starts to diminish.

So what happens in your life? You wake up every morning at the same time, take the same train, go to the same office, do the same things and probably most of the time earn the same amount of money? So what wrong with it? This is life isn’t it? Well yes if you are a Joe Bloggs. But imagine if you are little bit more than that and have the car you want, the house you want, the girl you wanted to sleep with the area you wanted to live in… then the daily drill of earning money brings in less joy and it keeps on diminishing until you just “dont give a flying f***” And then what?
