After another 4 year interval of waiting, the most amazing sports spectacle is finally here.
The 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
It’s a time when the world’s top athletes come together to compete and celebrate. And what better place to do so than Brazil. A country rich in culture who knows how to party.
Understanding the history and goals of the Olympic Games, here are 5 ways the Olympics relates to Customer Service.
Like customer service, the Olympics is universal. It includes a plethora of the finest athletes from all around the world who compete as equals in the same universally known sports categories for the gold.
Been Around for Ages
Since the beginning of time there has always been a customer/ merchant relationship. According to University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, the ancient Games were staged in Olympia, Greece, from 776 BC through 393 AD. Yet, did not return until 1896 in Athens, Greece. When Frenchman, Baron Pierre de Coubertin modernized the concept.
Only the Exceptional Get Honored
When it comes to the Olympics and Customer Service, only the truly exceptional get the honors, rewards, and acknowledgement. Being considered average or good equates to receiving nothing.
Not All will be Pleased
When the stakes for perfection are high, there are a number of things that may still go wrong even after hours of planning and training. Considering that each individual customer or Olympic Judge decides their own scores, pleasing everyone can be an impossible tasks. Resulting in some being less than happy with their experience or final scores.
Seeks to improve lives
Compared to offering great customer service to improve customer’s lives, the Olympics seeks to improve lives as well. The Olympics offers a boost to the hosting country’s economy via tourism, it proves hope to the athletes who attend & their home countries, and it unites the world in peace for a common cause.
