Check Out Union Square’s Vibrant Greenmarket This Week
The Union Square Greenmarket takes place all year long. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, you can stop by for the best of organic produce, cheeses, and a variety delicious delights from across the state.
It’s the perfect time of year to start hitting the farmers markets again, and Union Square Greenmarket is a great excuse to get outside and enjoy the fresh spring air while finding inspiration for making a homemade pie. (Or buying a one that’s already been handmade by one of the vendors.)
From 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, you can swing by the market to pick up some produce, dairy products and sweets; but you’ll want to visit earlier than later because some vendors leave once their product has sold out. You can do some of your grocery shopping while supporting small American farmers and business owners like, S&S.O. Produce Farm, Tonjes Farm Dairy, and of course the delicious Martin’s Pretzels, so why not? Here’s a list of all the vendors that will make their appearance during April’s greenmarkets. You’ll also be able to get some plants, trees, and herbs for your home! Be sure to bring along some bash, though, because many places won’t take cards.
The famous Union Square Greenmarket began with just a few farmers in 1976 and since then, has grown to host upwards of 140 regional farmers, fishers, and bakers every week. Thousands of people flock to this market to get their pick of seasonal fruits and veggies as well as fish, meats, cheeses, flowers, breads and more.
