The Volunteer Cantaloupe Vine!

My volunteer cantaloupe vine with the fruit: Image by author

The joy of a gardening is manifold. I would compulsively shove any fruit and vegetable seeds into one of the 20 containers I had.

One of them sprouted a vine. I knew it’s some Gourd family member, but I did not know what it was! It could be anything, cucumber, bitter gourd, pumpkin.

It started to develop a fruit, a fuzzy green one. It began fattening up. When it turned yellowish with reticulum on it, I was sure that it’s a cantaloupe!

It grew in a container in less than ideal conditions. As a result, it was smaller than the store-bought one.

The size was inferior, but the taste was not!

The famous YouTuber MIGardener admits cantaloupe was a crop, he always failed growing. Here I got it, without efforts. I love it when the garden gives rewards by serendipity.
