There’s no incentive for politicians to do the right thing if it’s not politically expedient, probably doubly so in a FPtP system.

Similar thing in the UK, just the other way around: when we had a referendum on PR a few years ago no one cared too much, it was a small party issue, but then the make up of our constituencies favours Labour… assuming they hold Scotland.

Now the SNP are in firmly power north of the border everyone’s calling for change.
