Among the mysteries surrounding religious cosmology, perhaps the most challenging is the concept of prayer.
By way of context, our working definition of prayer is “an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication”.
Clearly real world data show that religious and non-religious people testify to the power of prayers, yet there are other questions surrounding why, how, and when prayers are answered. …
By way of background, the vision started in 2014 after I resigned from work in 2013 to embark on a study sabbatical. This led to a second degree in Theology, Media and Communications, and an MBA. Healingsprings fellowship is a volunteer-led organisation which started as a means of using skills and knowledge from my course in community organising and empowering people within my local community to be change-makers.
After completion of my MBA in 2018, I took a break from Healingsprings fellowship as a result of personal challenges and work commitment.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the first installment of our newsletter. After a year-long break, we are back with a renewed sense of purpose and vision!
Our monthly newsletter serves as a means of keeping you abreast with past developments and provide you with insights into future events.
June Series has been running for 6years with each year having a seminal theme. Amidst the COVID pandemic, the global recession, the horrible murder of George Floyd by law enforcement officers, and the great spirit of solidarity from people across the world against such injustice; it is fair to say that humanity is feeling the birth pangs of a new dawn. To this end, this year’s conference focuses on these challenges from a philosophical perspective with a view to providing you with the thinking space to enable you to shape your future. …

Did they fall from heaven? Were they passed on by Jesus?
By way of context let us examine some building blocks. First, systematic theology. This term which sounds like something out of an engineering lab, is a discipline of Christian theology that formulates an orderly, rational, and coherent account of the doctrines of the Christian faith.
In other words, rather like a jigsaw puzzle, systematic theology tries to bring pieces together from the Christian bible to justify or qualify the superiority of the faith over other faiths or beliefs. The problem however, is that unlike a jigsaw puzzle the pieces…

Just as we happening today were the factions that were ostracised from the primitive church the Enlightened thinkers?
“They fashioned a tomb for thee, O holy and high one
The Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies!
But thou art not dead: thou livest and abidest forever,
For in thee we live and move and have our being.”
— Epimenides, Cretica (6th-century BC philosopher)
Epimenides was not a Christian but a philosopher from Crete. In fact he wrote this piece centuries before the birth of Jesus. His writing will go on to inspire the writer of Acts…
Sadly, not many Africans understand that before the intervention from the West and Arabs, Africa had a thriving economy, high culture, backed by sophisticated religious and social institutions.
For those of us who see everything West as superior, those who suffer from White Saviour Complex, those that believe that everything African is either demonic or backward; we existed in tribes, sometimes in kingdoms, and we traded with each other harmoniously and efficiently.
According to missionaries who first visited our shores, poverty was a rare occurrence. …
