A poem

Survivor by Rebecca Vincent

I am
Watered down by my flaws
Made incomplete by my actions
I was once beautiful
With a golden heart
But the lies have painted me ugly
And my heart no longer shines
When polished by kindness.

I am
Deceived by my own laughter
I let it gloss over my sadness
I am caged up and frightened within me
As the black waters
Lap at the shores of my heart
As my screams fail to pierce the dark
As my world stops to turn
As the light dims into shadows
As I become my own fears.

I am
Watered down by my flaws
But I live despite this
Placing all my hope in tomorrow
And whatever respite it may hold.
