Thank you for this perspective. As a person who has mostly done his own makeup for stage and TV, when I receive the gift of fresh eyes and application from a makeup artist, it’s a special comfort and relief.
With the advent of HDTV and the scrutiny of even amazing camera phones, there is a pressing need for public figures to look put-together. Clothes, shoes, makeup. It can be exhausting to be “on,” and the help of others is a powerful thing.
Asking for and accepting help can show humility and self awareness. I wonder if the fear is that being helped (not just serviced) by others is thought a weakness?
