Stolen Heart Video Map

Merging motion graphics with sculptural elements, C&G Partners’ Stolen Heart Video Map is the centerpiece of the exhibition, Stolen Heart: The Theft of Jewish Property, on view at the Leo Baeck Institute, Manhattan. Similar to the 3D map, the exhibition charts the stories of five Jewish business and property owners and their contributions to Berlin’s central district, Mitte, until the 1930s after which state-sponsored “Aryanization” resulted in the destruction and theft of their properties. The map features the Jewish properties in context with aerial views of the city center from 1933 to present day. Topographic, time-lapse and archival elements are weaved into a compelling visual that is projected onto a 3D-printed, 1:1500 scale model of Mitte. A unique cello composition, created especially for the map, accentuates the narrative.
