Asperger’s Syndrome

I recently had someone at work compare me to their son who has sensory issues and Asperger’s syndrome. I dislike being compared to something I don’t fully understand so I started to research. The more I looked at articles on female’s with asperger’s syndrome the more I realized I had many of the same traits. Some I’ve outgrown or unlearned as I’ve grown but I still struggle with many of the issues I found listed.

When I was growing up asperger’s syndrome wasn’t something that you could be diagnosed with. There were no lessons or classes to help you acclimatize unless you were on the extreme end of the autistic spectrum. It was thought then that only males could have asperger’s syndrome.

I doubt I will ever bother to actually get diagnosed since at this point it would serve no purpose but I will be continuing to learn about asperger’s and looking for techniques I might be able to adapt for my own use.
