How to Catapult Your Career to Nearly the Highest Level in 16 Months: Real Life Example

Originally published on LinkedIn. Due to the new course of my business and life, I moved it from LinkedIn to Medium.

This is a real life story about stellar career success in 16 months timeframe (and within possible options at that time and space). And that came after serious health issues, failed alternative therapies, etc.

Intro and Phase One — Health First

Maria, a mid-thirties brunette with great smile from Germany is my (and Petar Vojvodić’s) client / student and here’s her letter I received a few days ago. I will quote it bit by bit, explaining how I see her different phases of progress on solving various health and career issues.

“When I first met Petar, he was working without Dedi. I was seriously sick, with no possible cure in the Western medicine. I have tried at least a dozen of approaches, one of which made it much worse, and others helped, say, 5–10%, but then it got back to zero. When I met Petar, already after the first few times I felt healthier than ever since I got diagnosed. A few years later, things were getting better and better through regular work with Petar.”

Here ineffective mainstream (and alternative) medicine treatments / therapies were changed for Peter’s successful approach, a special chakras therapy system that worked and was beneficial for Maria.

Then I joined Petar and about once per month we were on a group Skype session with Maria (often being in different Countries) while she also had weekly sessions just with Petar. That worked well, as Maria wrote.

“The drastic improvement happened when Dedi and Petar starting working together. Two years later, and I was completely cured, with a full-time job and a full-time parent. There was no sign of any problems of health. May I again state that the Western diagnosis was ‘no cure, you will never be able to work or live independently again’. And for that, how can one possibly not feel grateful? There are so many things we do not know about life.”

Phase Two — Career First

Exploring (again, mentally) her stalled career sometimes in September last year (and also checking what’s appropriate to do at that moment) I saw a clear image of her walking two steps ahead. (For readers curious on how I do it, please check this article.)

“All that behind me, I guess it was time to focus on my career path. About 16 months ago during one session with Dedi and Petar, Dedi saw that something was rolling behind the hills, something big. And so I started. I talked to my boss, and two other bosses along the hierarchy. It took a lot of convincing, work, and devotion. But I knew I was on the right track. When I was unsure how to go about something, I checked with Dedi.”

Symbolically, if a regular promotion would be one step, then she had to provoke / attract / create / work / request two quick consequent promotions. No ifs, ands or buts about it, we obviously got clear instructions on “what to do”.

As that usually won’t come easy, we explored on “how to do it” and here I got a clear mental image of a bold, new, almost unheard of idea / project that she has to initiate / promote and eventually consider it “her baby” to get quickly two steps ahead in her company. A star was born: she accepted that and started working on it (with Dedication, I might add).

“Now, 16 months later I went from being a typical worker to nearly the highest level I could achieve in my age and with my experience.”

I used this sentence Maria wrote for the title of this article. But, there’s more.

“Even though the idea seemed logical when I first heard it, and even though it was in line with everything our company was about, there were many doubts on the way: first of all, who is this person to rock our boat? Second, this person is so junior, there is no possibility for her to push any of this through. Third, our company has a much too low profile to be able to go to the same level as the best. Still, through personal motivation, Dedi’s support on the way, and support of others who eventually bought the idea, it was possible and the idea was 16 months after the first meeting, put on the official agenda of our company.”

Now, what’s in it for Maria?

Meanwhile she got promoted once last year, and with better remuneration package. Recently she negotiated new, financially again improved package — while still holding that same position and title. These are her two steps forward, but again — that’s not all.

“I cannot say how satisfying and fulfilling all of it has been, to learn that making a low-profile company to something huge is possible, and that I am the person who can do this. I have learnt so much on the way, met so many wonderful people, and had not been for anything else, the process in itself would have been sufficient. But we go for more. We go for more because it feels really right and with Dedi supporting on the way, even more so. The results being here, it must be the right way.”

I am sure Maria will make yet another big step next year, to a new position, even higher status and even better compensation package. She definitely deserves that prestigious corner office. :-)

The company she works for will also progress: not only will they finally play with the big boys on their ground, but also disrupting the marketplace with great chances to keep that leading edge for years to come.

When that happens, I will update this article.
