GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

What is Global Citizenship?

According to GCED, “‘Global citizenship’ is a sense of belonging to a broader community and common humanity. It emphasizes political, economic, social and cultural interdependency and interconnectedness between the local, the national and the global.”

Why is important to be global citizen?

The connectivity and interdependence of the local, the national, and the international levels of politics, business, and culture are emphasized.

The idea behind the Global Citizenship Education (GCED)

With three major conceptual dimensions — cognitive, socioemotional, and behavioral — GCED hopes to encourage students to grow in this awareness and take on active responsibilities globally while bringing their local identities to the area. Also, it refers to education that starts with our local environment to become more globally aware.

How can we educate ourselves and our communities?

There is a great online opportunity to learn about GCED. You can register to the classes to broader your knowledge about global citizenship and help you to educate others in your community.
