Well stated. Sounds like you may have been raised around a lively dinner table. I would add the death of nuance as a casual factor to your premise. Nuance requires the weighing of pros and cons (and bothering to learn them). Unfortunately nuance does not always produce a strong headline and an impassioned response both of which sell media. Eliminating nuance eliminates work on the part of the producer and consumer.
