Eerie Mysticism in the House — The Story of Olivia Mabel.
In 1994, a phone call rang at the Texas State Police Department, but the voice was simply silent. Nevertheless, the police figured out the address of the house from which the call was made and went to the calculated address. Upon arrival, they discovered an old abandoned house, which from the outside attracted absolutely nothing, but as soon as the police got inside the house, each of them from head to toe felt what a real mysticism is.
This story, like many, begins with a happy family. Travis and Olivia Mabel wanted to start a big family. They dreamed that they would have many children and wanted to find a suitable place where their future children could play outdoors for days on end. And then they would all spend their evenings together in a big house. And when their first child, son Aiden, was born, they decided to buy a large house on a ranch in the quiet town of Selina, Texas. The family believed that this would be the perfect place for their young son to grow up, as well as the perfect place for their future children.
In 1983 the family moved to a new home. Young parents wanted a big family, but they decided to devote the first seven years of their marriage to their first child. He was a ray of light for both parents, and therefore the only child received everything he needed — the love, care and affection of both parents. The ranch, which housed the young family’s home, was large, and Aiden spent most of his time outside, playing in nature.
On the morning of March 13, 1991, Aiden went outside to play as usual. The only rule for him was to always get home for dinner. At 5:30 pm, when Aiden did not show up for dinner, Travis and Olivia assumed that their son was playing and lost track of time. It happened sometimes before, Aiden flirted on the street and was late for lunch. The couple went to look for their son in order to bring him home soon. But on this fateful day, tragedy overtook a happy family.
Near their home, Travis and Olivia found the body of their only son floating facedown in a pond. A seven-year-old boy fell into the pond and could not get out of it. The death of an only child could not pass without a trace for loving parents. The relationship of the spouses seriously deteriorated and the couple soon broke up. Travis left the ranch in an attempt to forget about the tragedy, to start a new life. But unfortunately, it was impossible for Olivia to start a new life.
After Aiden’s death, Olivia stayed on the ranch. However, she stopped going to work, communicating with friends and completely shielded herself from the world around her, to the point that even food was delivered to her home. After Travis left the ranch, Olivia’s friends and family were very worried about her, since she did not leave the house and nothing was heard about her at all. They tried to write letters to her, call her, come to her house, but Olivia never answered her calls, and also did not open the door of her house to anyone. The only people she had contact with were the delivery service workers. After some time, Olivia’s friends stopped trying to establish communication with her. Some of them thought that she remained to live on the ranch, someone thought that she had moved to another place and cut off all contacts connecting her with old acquaintances, so as not to remember the terrible tragedy that happened in the past.
On February 27, 1994, a very strange phone call was received at the Selina police station. When the attendant answered the call, there was only absolute silence on the other end of the line, and after a while the call was cut off, as if the caller had just hung up. However, over the next minutes, the police received two more exactly the same calls. Since there were several calls and no one uttered a word, the police traced the place from which the call was made. It was Olivia Mabel’s ranch house. The police had to check if everything was fine with the caller and went to the ranch. When they arrived at the ranch, they noticed a strange thing. The house was completely closed and looked like it had been abandoned for a long time. And the front door had not been used for so long that it was simply impossible to open it in any other way than to break it down.
The police had to make sure everything was in order in this house. No one was in trouble or held hostage inside this house, so they decided to break down the door to get inside. Inside, everything was so abandoned, as if no one had lived here for several years. A thick layer of dust on all surfaces and musty air spoke for themselves. The entire house was in a terrible state, except for one room, Aiden’s room. So it turned out to be an incredible number and all the things were neatly folded. In the middle of the room, Olivia sat in a rocking chair, dressed in a nightgown and slippers. In her hands she held a home-made doll, roughly made from sticks. The doll looked like a little boy, it was wrapped in pieces of Aiden’s clothes and Olivia was holding it tightly in her arms. And then there comes a point where the story starts to get really weird.
Opposite Olivia’s chair was something like an altar dedicated to her deceased son. On the table, covered with a blanket for children, lay photographs of little Aiden, his drawings, letters that Olivia wrote after his death, his toys, candles, flowers and an urn with the boy’s ashes. An autopsy revealed that by this time Olivia had been dead for about two months, but one of the letters on the table was dated exactly the day the police arrived at Olivia’s house. The content of the letter shocked the police. It said:
My Aiden, I am sorry. I am so sorry. I should have never let it get like this. I’m living. I will not let you keep me you vile evil creature. Mommy coming to you, Aiden, my sweet Aiden. Mommy loves you
Many things on the altar indicated that Olivia was performing some kind of occult ritual. The altar was completely covered with notes with inscriptions in an incomprehensible language on yellow paper. Later it turned out that it was Sanskrit. Words like “create” or “resurrect” were written there. It looked like Olivia was trying to create a tulpa — a paranomal creature with the help of some occult rituals that, according to belief, help bring the dead back to life.
This is all strange in itself, of course, but the question remains, if Olivia has been dead for more than a month, then who then called the police from her phone. According to the police who found Olivia’s body, nothing was found in the house that could indicate that there was someone outside the house. All windows and doors were closed from the inside. Moreover, Olivia’s phone was in another room, and it was completely covered in dust, as if it had not been used for a very long time. Whom did Olivia call an evil and disgusting creature in a note to her son? Maybe the tulpa she created turned out to be not at all cute Aiden, but was replaced by something demonic and maybe it was she who killed Olivia? One of the police officers who arrived at Olivia’s house, Francesco Santiago, later admitted that while in the house, Mabel felt uncomfortable and felt someone else’s presence. There is even a recording of an interview with Francesco Santiago, where she says that there seemed to be evil in the house.
However, with some other attempts by journalists to contact her, she will say that she does not want to remember anything about this story. That she had to change her home, state, social circle in order to completely forget about this story and asked journalists not to disturb her and her relatives with questions about this case.
In 2005, the Mabels case surfaced in the press again when it became clear that no one wanted to buy their abandoned house, since everyone who entered the house began to feel some discomfort. Because of this, the house has been empty for many decades. The landlord eventually brought in an Austin paranormal expert to clean the house. According to Navar, as soon as he entered the house, he almost suffocated.

The first version — Olivia really went crazy with grief and died in her house. Someone found her body, but did not want to contact the police, so they made these strange calls, and then skillfully hid their tracks.
The second version — Olivia really performed a mystical ritual. Someone even believes that this is what could harm her. There is another version that this story is simply based on rumors. During this time, no one was able to interview Olivia’s relatives. However, there are interviews with police officers who arrived at the crime scene and police records about the case. Perhaps Olivia’s relatives simply did not want to be harassed by journalists and therefore not a single interview with them appeared.
What ultimately happened to this grief-stricken woman remains a mystery. However, the circumstances surrounding her death lead many to believe in the mystical version of Olivia Mabel.
