That’s a Wrap, Folks!

As my fall semester comes to a close and finals week looms ahead of me like a treacherous, impossibly high mountain, my Digital Promotion blogging days are coming to an end. I know, I’m just as sad as you are! But don’t fret! I have one more juicy piece of writing to share before I hang up my hat and move on to my next school project I’ve been procrastinating. (Moment of silence for my poor professors for having to deal with my nonsense all semester)

I thought it to be fitting to cap this journey of with a ooey-gooey “what I’ll take away from this experience” blog. Coming into the class, I wasn’t really sure what to think. I honestly thought that it would be geared towards social media given the class course title, Digital Promotion Management. I envisioned a lot of hashtagging and learning how to create the perfect business Twitter. But to my surprise, that isn’t what the course was all about in the slightest.

Sure we touched on some social media but it was actually a little more retrograded than I thought. One of our first lessons was about emails. I scoffed at the sentiment. But it turns out that there is actually a lot more that goes into it than I could’ve imagined! But you’d already know that if you’ve kept up with my blogs up until now.

I think a great take away that I will carry with me is the complexity of promotion. There are endless possibilities to tap into. Driven by creativity and probably a lot of caffeinated beverages, a person can breathe life into some amazing projects. There’s something to be said about creating a beautiful video or website and enjoying the end result.

So what will I do with my new found wealth of digital promotion knowledge? Well the whole PR gig has truthfully never really been on my radar. But perhaps, if the stars ailing in the perfect geometric pattern, I will find myself taking up an opportunity to promote something in a professional setting. For now, I will pursue my dream of becoming a magazine writer/ cat behavior consultant. Whichever comes first.

This is Selena, signing off! I hope you weened some sort of helpful tips or at least a laugh from these blogs.
