In areas where snow emergencies are common, car rental companies are missing a major marketing opportunity. Customers should each receive an emergency package including:

• details on where to find the controls for windshield wipers, defrosters, etc.,

• a windshield scraper,

• instructions on how to return the car after hours, in case of a snow emergency, including what to do to get a ride home from the rental office during a snow emergency,

• a refund plan for occasions when a rental is cut short by bad weather or an option to extend the rental at no extra cost.
