The chastity belt of the Middle Ages was not intended to control a wife, to prevent her from having sex with other men during the husband’s absence. Rather it was meant to protect her from rape when he wasn’t around.

I’m surprised that we don’t have a modern equivalent. Multiple devices and services are available to protect homes. Why not personal protection using similar technology?

I imagine an electronic device triggered by a violent assault.

— an alarm to scare the assailant away

— automatic notification of police, with GPS location

— automatic recording of voice and video, and transmission of same to police.

In a just world, such devices, with related services would be free for residents of high crime areas.
