There has always a good old days. The past is always simpler than the present because we know so little about it. We remember the events that shaped the world as we know it today, but we forget the branching paths of possibility that gave context and meaning to the events as they unfolded.
In the present, we are inundated by an infinite number of possibilities. But when we consider the past, the choices and the challenges seem much easier to deal with, not because they were, but because of our ignorance of what was at stake then.
