Florida is one of the states that opted out of medicaid expansion under the ACA but I’m not sure how that has impacted the rates for ACA insurance plans offered there. I suspect that there are many Americans like myself who were able to keep their existing private plans after passage of the ADA and are ignorant to the plight of other less fortunate Americans, like your daughter, who are caught in the middle of the dispute between federal and state bureaucrats over medicaid.

Perhaps you are right that had the ADA not been neutered before its approval that it may have fared better. I don’t have any answers but I will always harbor reservations about the federal government’s ability to solve the problem, and that includes the GOP who will now take their stab at it.Thank you for your comments which have inspired me to take the time to expand my understanding of the issues.
