It’s a ridiculous question and a thoughtless response. Your accomplished historian has suggested that perhaps it would be acceptable, in the “short term,” if we had a secret, autonomous branch of government that could act unilaterally, covertly and without impunity to remove a sitting President “that some people don’t like.” He then burrows his head deeper into the quicksand with this gem; “over the longer term it could be seen as a threat to democracy”. I think it should be self evident that if we can temporarily suspend our Constitution to replace a President “that some people don’t like”, with one that they do, then there is no Democracy to threaten.
