Exactly one year after we tested our first delivery by drone pilot, we’re incredibly excited to announce our latest partnership to bring you on August 8th… election ballots delivered by drones!
This August you’ll be able to cast your vote and enjoy the national holiday. No need to spend the day standing in the sun in a long line up. Simply request an Election Ballot Delivery through Sendy’s platform, and we’ll dispatch a drone to drop off, wait, and return your ballot back to a voting booth on August 8th. Each ballot delivery at only KES 500!
Due to a limited number of drone partners, we’ll only be offering the Election Ballot Delivery option in Nairobi — CBD, State House, Chiromo, Kilimani, Upper Hill, and Mombasa — Nyali, Bamburi, CBD, Tudor. We plan to have over 600 drones available via the Sendy platform on August 8th, and target to deliver and submit 28,000 ballots via drones between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm.
To request an Election Ballot Delivery through Sendy’s app (Android or iOS), one must click on the ‘Election Ballot’ button, and then upload a picture of their ID and voter card. Sendy will immediately review the ID & voter card against a registered voter’s list for each neighborhood and match the neighborhood to the geo-location of your delivery pin. If your ID & voter card match with your delivery location, we will automatically dispatch a ballot by drone (speed subject to availability).
Thanks to the support of a strong partnership with the Kenyan National Election Agency, we’re able to guarantee speed in verification of voter details and quality in ballot confidentiality. We understand privacy is important and as such, all ballots will arrive in sealed election approved envelope, along with a second envelope to send the ballot back in. Our drones cannot read or alter your candidate selections. On election day we will be working with our most advanced tracking technology to guarantee each ballot reaches its designated voting box and all drone ballots delivered by Sendy are counted.
