I recently visited a marble cemetery in Manhattan and found out that they used to build marble tombs underground that fit dozens of bodies. The marble walls were supposed to prevent Miasma from spreading in the city. Although I suppose some chose to be buried there because it sounds downright aristocratic to be dead in a marble cemetery. But what a pain it is for the living. If you ever need to get in in, you would need to:

1. dig through a foot of dirt at the right spot,
2. remove a stone slab that sits on top of a narrow ladder way,
3. climb down the ladder, and
4. open a large marble door that leads to the tomb

and once you had done your business you would reverse those instructions to get back up. A few heads of states were buried in that cemetery that way.
