If you look at the video, you can see a massive football fail or flop, where the player unsuccessfully attempts to fake an injury on the field. I was confused by this because I don’t really play football. Well, I did some research and found out that “Feigning injury is done for a number of reasons but one of the most common is to encourage the referee to take greater action against an opposition player. For example, if an opponent is guilty of a foul while tackling, the player fouled may fake injury to ensure their opponent is shown a yellow or even a red card.”

So after finding out about this, I thought that perhaps this player would have been punished for this, but as it so happens, punishment for this kind of thing doesn’t usually happen in professional football. Apparently, exaggerating a foul so it looks tougher than it actually was to influence the referee to sanction a player with a yellow or red card is OK. That is so weird to me.

Football is definitely a different breed of sport! Not only do you need great dribbling skills, but your acting better be up there as well.
