Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series
The Catalyst 9400 switches are Cisco’s enterprise-leading modular access platform. These series advantage from Cisco IOS XE and its centralized architecture. They come in 3 different varieties: 3–7–10 slot chassis. Each component in the chassis has redundant-built architecture so as supervisors, power supplies and fans in the fan trays.

The C9400 10-slot supports 90W UPOE+ on every access port, 384 ports and 480 Gbps per slot, Secure segmentation with SD-Access, State-of-the-art high availability with N+N/N+1 power redundancy and Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty (E-LLW).
The C9400 7-slot supports 90W UPOE+ on every access port, 240 ports and 480 Gbps per slot, Secure segmentation with SD-Access, State-of-the-art high availability with N+N/N+1 power redundancy and Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty (E-LLW).
The C9400 4-slot supports 90W UPOE+ on every access port, 96 ports and 480 Gbps per slot, Secure segmentation with SD-Access, State-of-the-art high availability with N+N/N+1 power redundancy and Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty (E-LLW).
All models support 1G, 2.5G, 5G, 10G multigigabit and dual-rate 1G/10G SFP+ downlink options and 1G/10G, 25G, 40G uplink options. Also, these modular switches can benefit from following supervisors line card, power suplies and fans:

Power Supplies
The Cisco Catalyst 9400 Switches benefits from modular power supplies design and can support 4 power supplies for 4 slot chassis and 8 power supplies for 7 and 10 slot chassis.
Fan Tray
Based on the size of the chassis the number of fans in fan tray varies, e.g., 4×4,4×3 and 4×2.
These fans are serviceable from the front as well as from the back so in cases there is wiring in one side.
Cisco Catalyst 9400 License
All Cisco Catalyst 9400 switch licenses can be ordered and purchased on the Cisco smart software management website.
Cisco Catalyst 9400 Smart License
Cisco 9400 switches should be registered on the CSSM website by pre-purchased smart license. After registering in CSSM all instances would be activated. Also, by purchasing Cisco PLR smart license for the Catalyst 9400 device, all instances could be activated permanently.
