Rather than being critical, let’s enjoy and encourage diverse efforts to understand consciousness. I like the constructive/synthetic aspect of the proposal. Brains have evolved to construct filled-in models of reality composed of abstracted recurring observations (invariants). From this point of view doesn’t the ”self” emerge as the temporally most persistent set of such invariants?
