Before my ER shift yesterday, I grabbed my camera to see if the bald eagle that has recently been spotted in our neighborhood, was still there. Apparently, this rare visit happens once every 10 years or so. You don’t realize how truly large these raptors are until you stand right under it, and this one was perched up on a eucalyptus tree, staring out at the water. After a couple of minutes, it suddenly took off across the bay, swooped up a small water bird, and brought it back to the branch right in front of me and devoured its meal. Just a silent moment shared by me and this creature. Breathtaking. And a good omen.
