Dual-wielding Burritos (Guide)
I was dual-wielding burritos last night and realized that I hadn’t seen any guides on this kind of build, so I figured I’d write one.
I want to point out that I’m pretty casual, so if you want to get serious and min/max on this stuff, I probably can’t help you. I also don’t really get how other equipment like armor and mounts play into this, so I don’t cover that at all. But I can tell you how I build and why. Some people think it’s a silly and frivolous style, but in my experience, it has unique rewards that reveal themselves with practice.
One of the things I love about this world is that there aren’t too many mechanical restrictions. Nothing is labeled “main-hand” or “off-hand” or even “two-handed” (that’s another guide), so I’m free to experiment. I tend to favor a larger burrito in my dominant (right) hand, and a smaller burrito in my left. Too large a burrito in my off hand, and I find that my output drops because I am simply not swinging it as often as I would a smaller, lighter, faster burrito.
I find that it is important to have a balance between main- and off-hand selections that is not based on raw size, but rather on my particular style. Last night, for example, I equipped a 7-layer Burrito in my main hand, and a Beefy Potato-rito in my off hand. Someone who is ambidextrous might perhaps equip 7-layer Burritos in each hand and do just fine. It’s all about finding your own style! Bear in mind that with the equipment degradation system, burritos will actually become lighter and smaller over time, with regular use. This means that what began as a two-hander can actually ultimately be equipped in the main hand as a one-hander, or even a small and light off-hand piece. And of course, players with high strength can dual-wield two-handers pretty effectively right from the beginning.
There are costs involved that have to be considered, and I can understand if making the jump from a plated wet-style burrito or even a torta feels too oppressive to be interesting. Remember, it’s all about having fun and enjoying yourself, so if dual-wielding burritos feels like work, stop! There’s no need to equip your burritos like this. However, since nothing is permanently bound, it’s possible to experiment with little to no cost, especially if you assemble a party and adventure with friends!
Damage type is also an important factor to consider. Will you go Taco Bell? Maybe you prefer Qdoba damage. Some people like Chipotle, although if you ask me, Chipotle damage and Qdoba damage are basically the same thing. People tend to avoid mixing damage types, for better DPS efficiency. This has to do with modifiers geared towards specific damage. For example, Taco Bell Fire Sauce mods work poorly on Qdoba-based burritos because the damage types are not aligned. This doesn’t mean you can’t use them together! While it is technically sub-optimal, due to unavoidable heat loss during transport, some really interesting damage-over-time effects can be produced when mixing damage types, and dual-wielding is the perfect approach for this.
If you’re thinking “this guide is fucking awful, why did you write this trash,” please remember that, ordinarily, I’m more of a mole user. Even then, I like to experiment in my play, so if dual-wielding burritos seems weird to you, just remember that I’m the kid who keeps trying to max attack speed on every mage in League of Legends, just so I can see it.
