Going a Million Miles

It’s felt incredibly hectic this past week with the combination of month end close and trying to wrap up the Kondoing of my condo.

I think the Kondoing is pretty much done at this point with the exception of the guest room, which mostly has stuff from my roommates. I could probably curate some more in my closet and some miscellaneous categories, but I feel pretty good with what I’ve done so far. This weekend will be dedicated to deep cleaning the house before Chinese New Year’s on Monday.

I haven’t had time to do too many things, but I made this Thai sweet potato noodle recipe and it turned out okay. I definitely need to tweak this going forward. I had wayyy too many noodles and not enough other ingredients (broccoli, peppers and chicken). I felt like the sauce was a bit underseasoned, so we had to add more soy sauce and salt to liven up the taste. This is one of those meals that tastes better the next day after reheating in the microwave. Worth trying again!

While running errands today during lunch, I noticed two exciting developments in my neighborhood:

Helton Brewing Co

There’s going to be a massive brewery within walking distance of our house! I’m so pumped! And supposedly people who walk or bike there will get discounts off of beer and food. This is going to be amazing! Now I can get drunk off of 1.5 beers and Andrew can get drunk off of 10 beers and we can both avoid driving. This is an amazing development in our lives.

The other development is that the abandoned tire/car shop on the corner got demolished! As long as the replacement isn’t a funeral home, mortuary, pawn shop, check cashing establishment, or fast food joint with the exception of In’n’Out, I’m going to be very happy. The dream would be a nice local coffee shop, but I’d take a T-Mobile and a Starbucks.

Stop laughing! Yes, I am reading this book. The author is a health coach who claims that her “woman code” helped her to overcome PCOS and her methods can help other women get in control of their hormones. I’m super skeptical, but also very interested. She pinpoints five main zones of trouble:

  • Blood sugar group(pancreas and liver)
  • Stress group (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis)
  • Metabolic group (thyroid and parathyroid)
  • Elimination group (liver and large intestine, lymphatic system and skin)
  • Reproductive group (hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis)

I’m still reading through the beginning, so I’ll update once I’m finished.
