How to Hack Your Focus with Nujible

If you are like me, your mind is easily distracted from focusing on important tasks. You may be so prone to a wandering mind that you may not reach the end of this sentence.

Still with me? Okay good, because today I will be explaining how to get the most out of Nujible, the Apple Watch app that reminds you to keep your mind in the moment! (See the story behind the creation of Nujible here.)

Brief Rundown

Nujible is for scatterbrains like myself who need an occasional nudge 📳 to snap them out of their overactive mind. It works by periodically giving you a subtle and silent buzz on your Apple Watch (or iPhone) that acts as a reminder to get your head in the game.

Once you download the app, simply set how often you want to be nudged (in intervals of 2, 4 or 8 minutes) and how long you want to get nudged (from 5 to 20 minutes, and up to 5 hours with a low, one time in-app purchase 😉).

These controls can be accessed from your iPhone 📱or Apple Watch ⌚

Make Sure Everything is Good to Go

Nujible will send you silent notifications that will buzz 📳 on your Apple Watch. For this reason, it is important to allow notifications (Nujible will never send unsolicited notifications) and to “Clear All Notifications” on both your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Keep in mind that, because of way Apple push notifications work, you won’t receive a buzz on your Apple Watch unless your iPhone screen is locked. Soon you will begin receiving “nudges” on your Apple Watch that look just like regular notifications — and they include friendly, encouraging reminders to stay on track. 👍

Wait, Isn’t That Distracting?

Notifications are distracting by nature… so won’t this be distracting?

The answer is yes. That’s actually the point. I needed a tool that would periodically interrupt the persistent daydreams that took over my mind. I needed a tool that occasionally snapped me back into focus.

The goal is NOT to look at your watch with every notification, but rather to treat every buzz as a “nudge” that reminds you to concentrate on the task at hand. It takes a while to get used to, but after a few minutes of use I managed to train my brain to stop responding to the buzzing and was no longer as desperate to check for notifications every single time my phone vibrated.

Nujible Can Help You To:

  • Pay attention in class.
  • Stay alert during meetings.
  • Stay focused while reading.
  • Stay off your phone while working.
  • Fight off symptoms of ADD or ADHD.

I’ll be the first to say that this app is not for everyone (nor is it a cure for any disorder). However, there are many out there who struggle to maintain their concentration — especially in today’s world. If you are a fellow scatterbrain (good job making it this far), I hope you will be able to use Nujible as a tool for whenever you need to Get Focused Now!
